The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association advocates on behalf of all ranchers on the issues that directly impact your bottom line and way of life. There’s a right way to legislate and regulate.

In 1898, a group of cattlemen came together in pursuit of common goals—to make their voice heard and to protect the livelihoods of future generations.

They began what would become The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and over the next century, they represented the interests of cattlemen in our country’s corridors of power. All members were granted a seat at the table—from the humblest rancher to the most diverse operations.

But it wasn’t always easy. As science and technology helped the beef industry adopt more efficient and sophisticated methods, the cattle business faced fierce opposition from lawmakers and regulatory bodies.

In response, we engaged in conversations to improve stewardship, promoted initiatives for animal welfare, and worked to protect the rights of our NCBA members. These efforts were not about complying with federal mandates or public outcries, but because we knew that a responsible beef industry would result in a profitable one.

While our legislative efforts have been concentrated in Washington, we believe investing in our members’ home communities is a crucial component for the longevity of the cattle business. Our mission can’t be defined by a single accomplishment.

Our goal is to guarantee the vitality and spirit of the beef industry for current members and all future generations.
